For admission into Apostolic Carmel Girls' Senior Secondary School in Buruburu, Nairobi, the requirements have recently transitioned to align with Kenya's Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) for Grade 10 (Senior School).

The school is a private Catholic convent school managed by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel. Because it is a private institution, there is a dual admission process involving both the Ministry of Education's placement system and our own internal registration.

1. Academic Requirements

Grade 9 Assessment Results: Admission for Senior School (Grade 10) is primarily based on a student’s performance in the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) or Grade 9 results.

Pathway Selection: Students must select one of the three pathways offered at the school:

    • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
    • Social Sciences (Humanities and Languages)
    • Arts and Sports Science

Interview: Applicants are required to sit for an internal placement interview, an assessment administered by the school to determine their suitability for specific pathways.

2. Required Documentation

When visiting the school office for registration, you will generally need to provide:

    • Assessment Results: A certified copy of the Grade 9 result slip.

and then thereafter:

    • Birth Certificate: An original and a clear photocopy.
    • Passport Photos: Two recent passport-size photographs of the student, typically certified by the Head Teacher of their previous school.
    • Parent/guardians Bio-data.

3. Application Process

    1. Placement System: Ensure the student has selected Apostolic Carmel Girls' Secondary through the Ministry of Education Placement Platform.
    2. School-Level Registration: Complete the registration process either physically at the School’s Office in Buruburu Phase V or via the digital platform on their official website.
    3. Fees: An interview fee of Ksh. 2500 is usually required at the point of interview registration.

4. Admission "Kit" (Basic Requirements)

Once admitted, the school provides a specific list of personal items required for boarding:

    • Uniforms: Purchased specifically from the school's approved suppliers.
    • Footwear: One pair of black leather shoes and one pair of sports shoes for PE.
    • Stationery: Specific textbooks and mathematical sets as per the chosen pathway.
    • Boarding Items: Items like a bucket and personal effects are mandatory.

Note: As a Catholic school, students are expected to adhere to the school's religious and moral values, though we admit students from various backgrounds who are willing to respect the Catholic traditions.
