The congregation of the Apostolic Carmel runs primary schools, secondary schools, a school for the Mentally Challenged, First Grade Colleges in: Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science and Electronics, a Post Graduate College for Teacher Education, Children's Homes, Social Service Centres and Medical Relief Centres in India, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Pakistan, Bahrain and France.

These institutions enjoy a reputation for academic excellence, and an enviable educational record. However, academic excellence, important though it may be, is not our only purpose or goal in the education of the youth. We hold that the inculcation of MORAL and SPIRITUAL VALUES and the TRAINING OF CHARACTER in the moulding of SELF-DISCIPLINE, is the chief criterion of all our education efforts.

Drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Christ, who came to give life to all, showing preferential love for the poor and down-trodden, we aim at the total development of the human person and in particular, of the disadvantaged.

OBJECTIVES

INTELLECTUAL FORMATION

• To guide our students, develop their talents, creativity, integrate knowledge with life, evaluate ideas and events constructively and be resourceful in varied situations of life.
• To be innovative, seek and apply new teaching techniques and strategies to challenge, motivate and educate our students.

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

• To develop in all our students a deep and living faith in God, so as to help them find a meaning in life and equip them to go out in self-sacrifice, love and service to others.
• To inspire our students to be morally upright and capable of making right choices in life based on Gospel Values, and to stand by them in the face of contrary forces.

EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

To develop in the students’ emotional maturity that would assist them to face the ups and downs of life in a balanced and stable manner radiating joy and contentment to others.

SOCIAL CONCERN

• To create a spirit of fellowship, equality and mutual enrichment, thus breaking all barriers that cause division in the community.
• To guide our students to participate productively and responsibly in a rapidly changing society.
• To work with parents and the community to promote holistic growth.
• To develop a spirit of patriotism towards the motherland and within the framework of a united world community and train them towards responsible leadership in service.

OUR CULTURE & TRADITIONS

In our school we take pride in the following traditions:

• To be always friendly with one another in and out of school
• To avoid vulgarity in speech and behaviour.
• To accept whatever duty assigned to us as our rightful share.
• To arise when any of the teaching staff or visitor enters or passes through any room in which we happen to be.
• To respect the beauty of the premises and report any damage which we may observe.
• To avoid dropping papers in the school premises and to pick up any such papers dropped by others; to keep the school premises neat at all times.
• To learn and observe good manners in school and outside.
• While maintaining aesthetic beauty, we strive to conserve flora and fauna, water, energy and food.
• We go beyond the barriers of ethnicity, culture, skin colour, worship, wealth and background differences to establish ties of equality.
• We honour and respect parents/guardians, school authority/staff and elders, and pray for them.

These traditions are little things in themselves, and they cannot be enforced since that would destroy their value. The desire to observe these must come from within and must be genuine, only then can one’s character be built.
